Backcountry Safety and Check
Respect the nature and kite carefully
This informs you what you need if you want to go into the backcountry
Minimum Safety Requirements:
- Check the avalanche situation at your spot. Choose an Avalanche Center e.g. SLF Switzerland
- You should know and understand what it means if the risk is equal or greater than "3" !!
- Check the wind situation e.g. on Meteoblue and dont go if the wind is greater than the double of constant wind
- You have to carry an avalanche shovel in your bag
- You have to carry and activate an avalanche transceiver and you should also know how to search buried people with your device
- You should know and safe the "Emergency Rescue" phone number of the country where you are, or call in emergency 112 in europe
- For the best safety equipment, wear a avalanche airbag like as ABS
- For GPS navigation wear a GPS-Watch over satellite with a runtime over the double of your planned trip
- Carry a LED lamp with you
Backcountry Check
- Collect information in "Google Earth" and / or "Google Map" (starting point, way back, ...)
- You should know your boundaries and maximum outlines of your spot
- You should know risk areas in your spot (powerlines, trees, buldings, cliff or steep hillside, ...)
- You should calculate the distances and check the incline of your spot
- You should know the ground of your spot (lakes, rivers, rocks, bushes, ...)
- You should check your spot for "National Park" or "Wildlife Reserve"
